This for me I believe is the hardest to find Excalibur of them all. So much so that for a long time, although I have seen it listed in Excalibur brochures, I have never actually seen one for sale anywhere. Therefore I started to believe that it never really existed outside a brochure.

Well I spotted it recently and so I bought it quickly.

Excalibur Legend 3 - Model # 303E - Gyula Horvath - 1995/1996

Image

This is what I believe is the table version of the Excalibur Avenger, which is another hard to find Excalibur.

It has the usual 100 Horvath levels seen in Krypton Regency, CXG Legend, Excalibur Legend 2 etc combines with the usual User Programmable Evaluation Function.

When I compared Avenger against the above, it showed some move deviation therefore I expect Legend 3 to also have some move deviations, which make both Avenger and Legend 3 not exactly 100% clones.

Anyway its a hard one to find, but here it is.

Best regards
Nick

Excalibur made 2 versions of them. The other version of Igor has a different set of levels. The other version of Ivan has a slightly different design.

Seems odd to me that the Legend III would have labels for every square. Usually this appears in computers designed for beginners. I assume that the Legend III is stronger and perhaps has more features than the Legend II, yet the II does not have such labels. (It has row and column labels, more in line with tournament practice.)

Have you played any games between the II and III?

One legend takes a fall Regards,
Cheers,

Jeff B.

Hi Jeff,

Not had a chance to test it out yet. Will try and do it soon.

Thanks

Hello Nick, Everyone!

is there a version of Alexandra that has an LCD display like King Arthur?
Alexandra has 24 levels labelled "Beginner" which is something that my son should appreciate
but he needs an LCD in case the pieces fell of.

Thank you!

Hi Jarek

I think that you might be thinking of the Ivan II - The Conqueror as the following link indicates that it is related to the Alexandra.

Scroll down on the link page to find other Excalibur models related to it.

HI Nick

Do you have Alexandra (model 909), an Alexandra the Great in Saber's clothing?

See 2004 catalog
