Novag Constellation Quattro versus CB-Emu Novag Diablo

Post by spacious_mind »

I had just completed a game with Novag Constellation Quattro playing against Novag Scorpio 68,000. Well, Constellation Quattro performed so well that I was starting to worry about Novag Scorpio not doing so well.

You can see the game post here:

Anyway I thought I would try out CB-Emu with Novag Diablo playing the same opening sequence 1. c4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 at which point Novag Contstellation Quattro is out of book. Anyway this is what happened:

[Event "Major Swiss Comp. Chess League - Div. 4"]
[Site "Alabama"]
[Date "2017.03.18"]
[Round "8"]
[White "Novag Constellation Quattro, 30S."]
[Black "EMU Novag Diablo, 30S."]
[Result "1-0"]

[BlackElo "2046"]

1. c4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 {Novag Constellation Quattro out of book} 4.
Nxd4 Bb4+ 5. Nc3 {EMU Novag Diablo out of book} Nge7 6. e4 Nxd4 7. Qxd4 O-O 8. Be3 d6 9. Rd1 Nc6 10. Qd3 Re8 11. Qc2 Qh4 {Bxc3}

This is where Novag Diablo differed in its move choice. Scorpio had played 11. ... Bxc3. It tried afterwards several times with Scorpio to see if would play 11. ... Qh4 but it wouldn't do it.

12. Bd3 Ne5 13. Be2 Nxc4 14. Bxc4 Rxe4 15. Bxf7+ Kxf7 16. O-O Rc4 17. Qd3 Be6 18. Nd5 Ba5

[fen]r1b1r1k1/ppp2ppp/2np4/8/1bP1P2q/2N1B3/PPQ2PPP/3RKB1R w K - 0 12[/fen]

18. ... Ba5 was bad. 18. ... Qe4 was probably the best move. From now on Constellation Quattro had the advantaged and it disappoint, totally annihilating the Diablo EMU.

19. f4 Rc6 20. f5 Bd7 21. Qb3 Qc4 22. Qxb7 Re8 23. Qxa7 Ra6 24. b3 Qe2 25. Qd4 c5 26. Qf4 Re5 27. f6 g5 28. Qc4 Bb5 29. Qc1 Qxa2 30. Rf3 h6 31. Rh3 Be2 32. Rxh6 Qxb3 33. Rh7+ Kg8

33. ... Kg8was horrible. There right move here is 33. ... Kf8 which probably at this point could have still drawn the game. Now it is all over.

34. f7+ Kxh7 35. f8=Q Bxd1 36. Qf7+ Kh8 37. Bd4 Be2 38. Bxe5+ dxe5 39. Qf8+ Kh7 40. Qe7+ Kh8 41. Qxe5+ Kh7 42. Qxe2 Qxd5 43. Qxa6 Qd4+ {Novag Diablo 68000 Resigns} 44. Kh1 Qe4 45. Qxa5 Qe5 46. Qcxc5 Qxc5 47. Qxc5 1-0

Final Position

[fen]8/7k/8/2Q3p1/8/8/6PP/7K w - - 0 47[/fen]

Diablo played at level 3 select 3. If anyone wants try and repeat the game on their dedicated Diablo then please do. Because of the tournament that I am playing, I don't have a lot of space at the moment otherwise I would pull mine out.

I am now curious if the dedicated Diablo repeats the same moves as CB-Emu Diablo.

Anyway Constellation Quattro draws against Novag Scorpio and beats CB-Emu Diablo. Not a bad day... :)

Best regards
Nick
