Excalibur Grandmaster should've won this game easily, but makes two HUGE endgame blunders, the last of which ensures the draw due to lack of material. I'm not sure who programmed the endgame for the Grandmaster, but I think he/she forget to tell it that K&B vs K can't win. Here's the position:

All Black has to do here is play 53...Kf2 to keep the win alive. But after taking the pawn with the Rook, White breathes a huge sigh of relief and trades the Rooks, garnering the half point.

Excalibur Grandmaster leads 6.0-2.0
Excalibur Grandmaster moves to within a draw of winning the match with this cleanly played game over the Fidelity Excellence. No mistakes or blunders for the Grandmaster in this game, and only 3 inaccuracies!
In this position, the Excalibur Grandmaster plays the nice...

Excalibur Grandmaster leads 6.0-3.0
With its back against the wall, needing a win to stay alive, the Fidelity Excellence comes through with this game. I'm perplexed how the Excalibur Grandmaster can go from one game with no mistakes or blunders, to a game with 15 mistakes and 3 blunders! I guess it was tired or something. Maybe bad health, like the reasons everyone gives for Tal and Smyslov.
It was a very complicated game, though. One of those wide open games with Queens and Rooks and Knights on the board toward the end of the game. Even with all its mistakes, the Grandmaster could perhaps draw in this position if it had retreated its Knight to d8.

After Queen to d6, though, the Fidelity unit comes through with the moves to win.

Excalibur Grandmaster wins the match 7.0-3.0
The Excalibur Grandmaster earns a spot in the Quarter-Finals with this match-ending steamroll over the aging Fidelity Excellence. In the following position, Black is already in trouble with it's King under a blistering attack. It has to try 25...Qf8 to try to get the Queens off the board...

...but moving it to d7 was a bad idea. White continues the attack and gets the win, moving on to the Quarter-Finals.

Results of Round One
Here's the link to the spreadsheet with the Tournament results thus far. You will see I have created a new tab called "Quarter-Finals" to track the next round. I'm also going to start a new thread, so that this one doesn't become unwieldy.
