The rules are simple, after Hiarcs 12 BETA makes its move, the forum members will have 48 hours to vote on moves in this thread. Then Hiarcs 12 BETA will have up to 48 hours to respond. And the cycle begins again. Only I, the team captain can play the move for the forum team.
You can use any computers to help or give Kasparov a call, with the exception of Hiarcs. You can not use any version of Hiarcs to help you in predicting Hiarcs 12 BETA's moves or otherwise.
We played 1. e4 as it had more votes than all the other moves.
Don't forget that it's just a game, so don't feel pressured to vote on any move by the discussions going and to just vote and play for fun!

As there are no deep dark secrets in this match my services as Referee will not be needed
therefore i am free to vote along with the team
i shall be suggesting moves from time to time using all of the modules Mephisto ever released for sale
a different module for each move that i can vote in..
Lets start things off with the first Weltmeister Program Mephisto produced
the 1984 Glasgow "S" which suggests 2.d4
Modular Regards

I wonder if I should also use a different beta version for each move I have around 200 since H11!?Steve B wrote:As there are no deep dark secrets in this match my services as Referee will not be needed

After 1.e4 c6?, I now vote for 2.d4 with the intention of 3.e5 after 2...d5. We are winning now.
Playing the queen's bishop pawn gives more in the way of chances for black and simplifies to many other openings, all of which have been heavily analyzed. We don't want to give the computer a chance to beat us by equalizing in the opening with moves like 2.Nf3 or 2.Nc3, which would be, as Terry would put it, "pussy-cat moves". We should use our winning advantage now while the computer is still stuck in book .
