Anything less than 1000 € would be awesome! The technology (electromagnets) itself is not expensive and since there is no mechanical system (such as the square off), there is no wear. However, the development costs must have been enormous.Staplegrove wrote:
The video does increase my overall want factor - just waiting on the price - at a wide wild guess I'd assume somewhere in the 500-1000 (EUR/USD/GBP) region.

DGT boards are highly overpriced, cost of manufacturing should not be a reason to price the board that high. Regium will need a decent amount of people to support them with their kickstarter, with $1500,- most interested people will decline. Especially when it's not known if they will make their claims reality. Here in Holland you buy a wooden DGT with bluetooth for €579,- I think €750,- would be a reasonable price-point.chesspcmac wrote:I think it will be at least $1500 the cheapest model, it is a tournament size board, Bluetooth DGT board with pieces is almost $1000 in the USA.

Hats off to the team https://regiumchess.com/about.html and I like the fact that they are multinational. The board looks so good it's bordering on disruptive technology, it works like a dream but should not be prone to mechanical failure.

Good night.
An interview with the head of REGIUM, Angel Delgado, has been published on the ChessCC website. You can read the approximate price at which it will go on sale.

What did he say about the pricing of the REGIUM boards?

This appears to be everything I would want in a chess computer. It looks great. The automated piece movement is way beyond anything I've ever seen before. It's versatile. It would make most of it's competitor chess computers obsolete in comparison. Even the price sounds good. It's perfect! It seems.....almost too good to be true.
If something seems too good to be true it probably is.
